Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN CHRISTINE McNIVEN (nee COLLINS) Peacefully, on Monday April 14, 2003, Jean McNiven passed away at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 86 with her son Kirk by her side. Jean was born in Garson, MB on February 23, 1917; then moved to Niagara Falls, ON where she met her husband Warren McNiven. Upon his death, she moved back home to Garson and eventually to Tyndall, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Warren; her parents, Robert and Jenny; her brothers, Bill, Bobby, Fred, Jimmy and sisters, Kay and Joan. She will be deeply missed by her son Kirk and wife Lynne Champagne; her grandchildren, Ian, Tegann and Colin; her brother Glen Collins, Hamilton, ON; her sisters, Joyce Kemp, Agincourt, ON, Gertrude Moss of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Edith Pegg, Dundas, ON, whom she was especially close to. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and special niece Renee, Waterford TWP, Mich. USA. Jean worked for the Province of Manitoba in the Land Titles Office where she had been hired for her beautiful penmanship on legal documents. Jeans passion was to talk about her grandchildren and politics. She was passionate about the Liberal Party since her husband Warren worked along side Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent. She would phone Lynne to express her concerns with current events and her thoughts on the political situation in Canada. The family would like to thank the staff of Beausejour Hospital for their support and compassion. A special thank you to Barb and Madeline and the Home Care Staff. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour, with Rev. John Robertson officiating.
