VIOLET DOROTHY ELIZABETH CLAYTON Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone, Violet Clayton, aged 92 years of Gladstone, MB, widow of the late Percy Clayton. Violet was born in Glenboro, MB on July 1, 1910 to John and May Nairn. After she finished high school, she went to Gladstone to work. She married Percy Clayton on October 18, 1933. They lived in the Palestine District and raised three daughters there. They moved to Gladstone in the fall of 1951 and continued to farm until 1967. Vi belonged to various community organizations including The Royal Purple and the Gladstone U.C.W. She was an avid card player and belonged to a bridge club. She liked gardening, flowers especially. She was well known throughout the area for all the beautiful flower gardens she had. Vi also enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, and played bridge after she moved to town. Dad passed away in April 1990, and Mom moved to Third Crossing Manor in 1999, remaining there until her passing on April 15, 2003. Predeceased by her parents; husband Percy; three brothers, Ivan, Gordon, and Orwell; she leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Ceone and Steve Hudey of Brandon, Louise Clayton of Winnipeg, and Lorraine and Bert Reesby of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. We, her family, would like to thank Cheryl and the rest of the staff at the Third Crossing Manor for the excellent care and kindness they showed to Mom. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gladstone United Church, Gladstone, with Rev. Stan McKay officiating. Interment will follow in the Gladstone Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Thank-you, O Father, for setting me free, From the earth where I was bound.
