MARY GURICAN (nee MATIS) On April 15, 2003, after a long and courageous battle, Mary Gurican passed away peacefully at Beacon Hill Lodge. Mary leaves to mourn her loving husband of 44 years, Vladimir; her daughter Cynthia (Rick) her son Anthony; grandsons, Richard (Tarrah) and Bryan (Melissa) and great-granddaughter Destiny. She is also survived by her sisters, Sophie (Allan), Millie (John) brother Steven (Lois) and sister-in-law Angie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Daniel; parents, Maria and Mathew; and brother Florian. Mary was born in Namestovo, Czechoslovakia and immigrated with her family as a young child. She grew up in Komarno, MB. In 1958, she married Vladimir Gurican, residing in East Kildonan, later moving to Dufresne, MB. The family thanks Dr. Paul Daeninck and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface Unit for their care and compassion. A special thanks to all the home care nurses and attendants. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier, Winnipeg. Interment to follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens located on Hwy. No. 1 E. Prayers and viewing to take place on Monday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg.
