MONIQUE (DESHARNAIS) WALLY September 13, 1950 - April 15, 2003 Peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, Monique passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on April 15, 2003 at the age of 52. She leaves to mourn her husband Ron; her children, Nicole Preteau, Carmel (Sean Taylor), Gilles Preteau (Marie), Tamara (Roger Coutu), Owen Wally, Quentin Wally; and her four grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Noah and Leanne Monique. She also leaves to mourn her mother Lucille (Luc Girouard) stepmother Gertrude Hamonic; sisters, Claudette (Doug Baldwin), Helene (Rene Lacasse), Suzanne (Doug Low), Rachel (Maurice Cahill) brothers, Daniel (Louise Simard), Alain, Luc and stepbrother Robert Gobeil. Monique was predeceased by her father Henri Desharnais in November 2001. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers. Monique was born and raised in St. Pierre-Jolys. For more than 25 years, she was employed at the Centre Medico Social as a Laboratory Technologist where her gentle touch and presence was greatly appreciated by patients and co-workers. Monique was a dedicated member of the Manitoba Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists. She was a proud member of the Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals. She served in many capacities including the executive council, on several bargaining committees and as staff rep for St. Pierre Hospital. She met her husband Ron through her union involvement. Monique spent endless hours creating stained glass, ceramics, paper tole, leather moccasins, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, which she gave so lovingly to family and friends. These precious gifts made by her loving hands are resting in many of our hearts and homes. Monique also enjoyed working in both her garden at home and at her cottage at Hillside Beach. She and Ron also shared a love for cultivating orchids which were prevalent in their home. Moniques Dad once described her as a precious pearl, a person with great inner strength and courage. Special thanks to all family and friends for their love and encouragement during Moniques lengthy illness. The family gratefully acknowledges the spiritual support received from sister Amanda Desharnais, and the devotion and care provided by Gertrude Harmonic during Moniques latter days. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, April 21 at the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald, at 2:00 p.m., with Fr. Ron Leger, CSV.
