STEFAN (STEVE) MARKO It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, husband, and grandfather Stefan Marko, April 14, 2003 at Deer Lodge Centre. "Tata" was born on June 10, 1925 in Lybochora, Ukraine. At age 15 he left home never to return, to join Division "Halychyna" in the Second World War. After arriving in Canada from England in 1952 with his bride Annella, his priorities quickly shifted to centre around family. Together they raised daughters, Olya and Yaroslava; and son Michael. His passion was his work. And indeed he worked as a roofer well into his 70s! Dad thought, that fact should put him in the Guiness Book of World Records. Hed always announced to those who cared to listen, "noh whork noh pork." Stefan was predeceased by his precious granddaughter Rieja Olya Leclerc tragically succumbing to cancer just one year earlier. Their love for one another was something to behold. He leaves to mourn his wife Annella; son Michael and his wife Indira; daughter Olya and her husband Bohdan; daughter Yaroslava and husband David; adoring grandchildren, Madison and Stefan. Cremation has taken place. A graveside / Panachyda service will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Cemetery officiated by Fr. Darren Kawiuk of Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Stefans memory to CancerCare Manitoba, childrens charities, and the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Glory to Ukraine!
