PETER J. PENNER Peacefully with his family at his side at the Concordia Hospital, we are saddened to announce the passing of our father, brother, husband and grandpa on Thursday, April 17, 2003. Peter will be forever cherished by his loving, caring and devoted wife of 37 years, Elly; four children, Ruth (Ron) Moir of White Rock, BC, John (Willie) of Kimberly, BC, their children, Shane in Calgary and Sheryl in Scotland, Alice (Dan) Cover of Hamilton, ON, their children, Anna (Mike) Powell, Heather and Matthew, all in Hamilton, Ernie (Marni) of Osborne, MB, their daughter Lisa in Winnipeg. Peter was predeceased by his wife of 24 years, Anne on September 3, 1965; sisters, Mary, Helen, Agnes; and brothers, Paul and John. Peter was born November 5, 1915 in Rosenthal, South Russia to Johann and Maria Penner. Together with two brothers and three sisters, they immigrated to Canada in 1923 to Herbert, SK. Their family farming opportunity brought them to Osborne, where Peter farmed till his retirement in 1979. He avidly pursued and enjoyed new hobbies of golf and oil painting. Peter was a kind, gentle and respected man whose quiet wisdom helped all of his family. His concern and devotion for his family was apparent in every way. Peters own life was truly guided by his Lord and Saviour. We will all miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at the Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 1420 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg.
