JACK BLACK After a lengthy illness, Jack passed away quietly at Grace General Hospital on April 17, 2003. During his final moments, his family was by his side giving him comfort and support. Jack was born on June 2, 1927 in Winnipeg to Jack and Christine Black. He grew up in the North End, working in his fathers bakery, and ultimately having a lengthy and distinguished career as a Winnipeg Police Constable. After retiring in 1984 he remained active as a beekeeper and with a variety of hobbies. Jack was predeceased by his parents, and his loving wife Teenie (nee Lucier). He leaves behind his sisters, Ann, Norma and Marge; his daughter Diana Sawatzky; his son Robert Cuthbertson-Black (Crystal) grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffrey, and Dana; his kitten Pita; numerous family, longtime trusted friends and neighbours. Special thank you to trusted neighbour, Mike Syrota and longtime friends the Preisentanz Family. Jack was a unique individual with extraordinary strength of character, sense of justice, fairness, and motivation to work hard and contribute to the lives of those around him. He can be remembered for his hard work and determination. The greatest disappointment of his illness was the loss of his ability to fix, build and create. He is especially remembered for his sense of humour, his love of the success of others, and pride in the achievements of his family. He will be remembered for the values he demonstrated daily. Thank you to the staff of Grace General Hospital, 4 West, especially Donna and the Oncology Clinic staff for their extra effort and consideration. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Private interment at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society on Jacks behalf. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
