Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MITCHELL KITCHING June 15, 1919 - April 19, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Kitching of Stonewall. She leaves to mourn her loving and devoted husband, Oliver with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She also leaves her children, Allan (Linda), Sheila (Harry) and Brian (Barb). She will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Shawna (Larry), Jennifer, Kristy (Allans), Keith and Mika (Sheilas), and Delaney (Brians) and great-granddaughter Lane Victoria (Shawnas). Mary was born in Glasgow, Scotland and married Oliver there, near the end of the Second World War. She was loving and generous and enjoyed the simple things in life, knitting for her children and grandchildren, keeping score at her childrens ball games or Olivers horseshoe games. She loved playing cards with her grandchildren. In her early years, Mary worked as a telephone operator for many years. She was an avid curler and active member of the W.I. After recovering from brain surgery, she was forced to retire. She continued looking after her home and family. Mary had faced numerous ailments over the years and in June she was diagnosed with cancer. After this last fight, she has now gone to meet her Lord. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the loving and caring staff of Rosewood Lodge, where Mary spent the past year of her life. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. Rev. Mary Best will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rockwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marys memory to the Cancer Foundation, Head Trauma Research or to Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
