IRENE MAY (PULLEN) ORPIN 1924 - 2003 Peacefully following a lengthy illness it is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Irene May (Pullen) Orpin on Friday, April 18, 2003 at Grace Hospital with Kenn her husband of 25 years and her family by her side. Irene in her 78th year with be sadly missed by husband Kenn Orpin; children, Wayne (Elaine), Sandra, Rick (Pam), Wayne, Tom (DaraLee) Bruce (Annette) 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Dorthy Polarik of Sarnia, ON; and several nieces and nephews. Irene was born and raised on the family farm in Ontario. In 1958 she moved to Winnipeg and joined the military. She attained the rank of second lieutenant before pursuing other careers which included medical assistant and lab technician. Along with a hectic work schedule she still managed to raise a family and maintain many hobbies. She enjoyed her lapidary work, sewing, painting ceramics, leather craft and many, many more. A botanist at heart she tended not only to her own garden, but that of family and friends. The trailer in Beausejour provided the perfect summer getaway for Irene and Kenn. She lived her life to the fullest and will be sadly missed. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 22 between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 23 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Andrew Anglican Church 2700 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens 4000 Portage Ave. followed by a reception at St. Andrew Anglican Church.
