Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALENTINO RAYMOND (RAY) ARIANO It is with great sorrow that his family announces the passing of Valentino Raymond (Ray) Ariano on Friday, April 18, 2003. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Yolanda Ariano. Ray is survived by Gabrielle (Gail) with whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary this coming September. Ray is also survived by his five children, Louis (Carol), Teresa (Bill), Paul (Nancy), Geralyn (Greg) and Marcia (Darren) and his 11 treasured grandchildren. Ray will also be missed by his cousin Leonard Ariano, the Ariano family in Sioux Lookout, his many relatives in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, his brother-in-law John Charron; and his many friends. After graduating from Kelvin High School, Ray briefly worked for the CNR before enlisting in the R.C.M.P., in which capacity he served in Ottawa and Port Alberni, BC. Ray left the R.C.M.P. to embark on a career in finance. Over the years, Ray worked for Household, Pacific and Laurentide Finance, and Auto Electric, retiring in 1990 as the Canadian Credit Manager for Mercury Marine. Ray was a lifelong athlete, participating from an early age in baseball, soccer, football, and hockey. As a parent, Ray continued his involvement in sport, he umpired Little League Baseball for 11 years, was a referee with the Manitoba Amateur Hockey Association, and refereed football for over 20 years. Ray was recognized for his efforts in amateur athletics with many awards and commendations, he was also a life member and Past President of the Manitoba Football Officials Association. The family is most grateful for the care Ray received from his palliative care doctors and nurses at Riverview Health Centre. Rays funeral mass will be said by Fr. Carl Tarnopolski at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish (85 Kirkbridge Dr.) on Tuesday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. Following cremation, a private burial will be held at the Garry Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
