Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH ELSIE SMITH Peacefully, at Oakview Place, Elsie Smith, aged 94, passed away on April 19, 2003. Elsie is survived by her son Murray; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Evan; daughter-in-law Run; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1987. Elsie was born in Elkhorn, MB and had a varied career as a nurse and teacher. For many years she was employed as a special education teacher with the Government of Manitoba, working at the Shriners Hospital for Children among other places. In her retirement years Elsie was active in the Manitoba Horticultural Society and the Manitoba Society for Seniors. She was an avid Bridge player and had an extensive social circle, which included many friends and extended family members. Murray would like to thank her many faithful friends and relatives who showed her much consideration in her last years, including especially Joyce and Jim Sanders, Eileen and Stan Sokalski, Mary Morris, Jack and Maria Reid (whose children she thought of as her other grandchildren), and Inga and Gummi Palmason. Thank you also to the staff at Oakview Extendicare for their care and consideration over the past few months. Memorial service for Elsie will be held on Friday, April 25, at 12:30 p.m., at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
