MARIE (BUHR) KEHLER SCHROEDER August 28, 1920 - April 21, 2003 Peacefully, following a courageous battle with cancer, Mom passed away on April 21, 2003 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Throughout her illness, Mom was visited by her many friends and her family. Mom cherished these visits and was always ready to give us a smile. Mom married Jacob P. Kehler and in the early years they kept busy raising their family in Dominion City, MB. Moms life brought her to Winnipeg. As she continued to raise her children, she also decided to enter the work force. Jack Andrews Drug Store, Kirkfield Hotel, K-Mart and Zellers were some of the places Mom worked. She made many friends throughout her work years. Upon the passing of her husband, Jacob P. Kehler, in 1981, Mom returned to Winnipeg. She continued her communication with friends in Gretna, MB. Mom returned to Altona, MB, where she met and married George Schroeder in 1983. George and Mom had 18 loving, fun-filled years together. George passed away February 8, 2002. Upon her marriage to George, Mom inherited another wonderful, loving family. This family consisted of 11 children, their spouses, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. WOW! Thank you to all the Schroeders for the love you shared and gave to "Mom". Mom, a twin herself, was blessed with two sets of twins. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ron and Rosemary, Ervin and Elaine, Elvin and Barb, Linda and John McDermot, Glen and Cindy, Colleen and Chris Columbus, Wilfred; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; twin sister Sarah Friesen (John) sister Lorna Dyck (Pete) sister-in-law Joan Buhr; also by 10 stepchildren and their families. Mom was predeceased by her first husband Jacob P. Kehler; her second husband George Schroeder; her brothers, Ed and Pete; her nephew Dan Buhr and stepson George. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. from the Blumenort Mennonite Church in Rosetown northwest of Gretna, with interment to follow in the Gretna Cemetery.
