Born: Dec 13, 1923
Date of Passing: Apr 17, 2003
Offer Condolences or MemoryISABEL F. BRIGHT (nee WATTERS) On Thursday, April 17, 2003 Isabel passed away after a short illness, at the age of 79. Born in Winnipeg, December 13, 1923 and educated here, Isabel attended St. Vital School in Fort Garry and later acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics at the University of Manitoba (1940 - 1944) with internship at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal in 1945. After graduating Isabel worked at the Misericordia and Deer Lodge Hospitals as Dietitian and later became Head Dietitian at the Municipal Hospitals (King Edward, King George and Princess Elizabeth). In 1957 the family moved to Montreal where her husband had been transferred by C.N. There, Isabel worked at the Montreal General in a teaching capacity and at the Jewish Convalescent Hospital in an administrative capacity and in later years as a Dietitian at St. Anne De Bellevue Veterans Hospital. The family remained in St. Eustache, QC for 21 years during which Isabel took an avid interest in civic affairs and played a major role in forming the first playground for children interested in baseball, hockey, and soccer which has since become a full scale arena for the district. Not forsaking her first love "dietetics" she regularly participated in elementary school health programs, particularly the importance of healthy eating. Isabel and Clarence returned to Winnipeg in March 1978. Isabel was predeceased by her mother Muriel, and father George, and brother Owen Watters. She is survived by her loving husband Clarence; daughter Judy and husband Mark Lynch of Vancouver; son Jim and wife Cathy of Montreal; and by four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jillian Bright (Montreal), and Chris and Michael Cochand (Vancouver). The family wishes to thank the staff of Unit 3 at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and kindness and to the Home Care staff of the Tuxedo office for their many years of loving and devoted service to Isabel. A private family service was held at Garry Memorial Funeral Home on April 22, with Rev. Ron Long officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Isabel may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
