As I am very sorry for your loss, I am unsure if anyone will ever see this. Seeing as it's been years since Michaels passing, I am pretty sure due to the spelling of both our surnames and the similarities of where Michael came from etc, we might be related. My TA (great grandpa) - Paul Peter "Wyrshyhora" immigrated from Ukraine to Canada also. I know the spelling of my last name was spelled incorrectly upon his arrival from Ukraine. I've been working for years on my family tree, etc. sorry for so much info on an condolence comment, but if anyone from your family ever sees this I'd love an email so maybe we can compare any info we both have, if you're interested on your ancestry that is.
