JON SIGURGEIRSON It is with sadness that the family of Jon Sigurgeirson announce his passing on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Jon was born on November 21, 1928 in Hecla and was raised on Hecla Island and was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. During his working years he fished and freighted on Lake Winnipeg and later worked as a heavy equipment operator. Throughout his life he had a great love of music and singing. He is survived by his children, Garry, Gale (Dan), Sharlene, Craig (Dolores), Paula, Wade (Maureen) and Russell (Kathy). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather, Lovelie, Clayton, Corrine, Gwen, Chrystal, Devin, Jennelle, Sean, Jenna, Darren, Adrian and Brock; also three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Diane; by his brothers, Bill and Marus; sister Ingibjorg and his parents Geiri and Kristbjorg. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home who provided care, comfort and compassion for the time he was there. Cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service at the Riverton Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 28. Following the graveside service family and friends are welcome for refreshments at the Riverton Lutheran Church. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
