NATHAN (SPUD) DUBOFF It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Spud Duboff on April 12, 2003 at the age of 78 years. Spud will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years Lil, his son Charles, his son Neil (Carol) his daughter Cynthia and his five grandchildren, Carly, Matthew, Jonothan, Michael and Rachel and his sister, Marcia Meltzer and numerous family and friends. Spud was born on January 3, 1925. He meet Lil and on February 22, 1953 they were married. Dad spent his working years as a successful Lumber Salesman. His retirement years saw Dad volunteering for Meals on Wheels, The Israeli Pavilion at Folklorama and driving cancer patients to their appointments. Throughout his life Spud had many interests including travelling with Lil, his condo in Gimli and classical Jazz and Yiddish music; he loved his sports and was a longtime fan of the Bombers; the Goldeyes and CanWest Global Ball Park brought dad much joy and pleasure throughout the summer...the ball park will feel empty without him there. Spuds most special times were enjoying the Jewish home that Lil made and carrying on the tradition of Jewish Holidays with his children and grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, Monday, April 14. Pallbearers were Matthew Duboff, Chuck Meltzer, Marvin Meltzer, Arthur Fox, Adam Rossi and Joel Dudeck. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Toll and Mel Meltzer. If friends desire donations may be made to The Jewish Child and Family Services, The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation in Spuds name or to a charity of their choice.
