KAREN ANN MacDONALD Aged 41, of Port Hood, Nova Scotia, formerly of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully Friday, April 11, 2003 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Nova Scotia, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her son Ashley; and will be missed by her canine companion Nova. She is also survived by her parents, Leo and Cassie (Gillis) MacDonald of Port Hood, NS; brothers and sisters Darlene (Jackie) Rankin of Mabou, NS, Leona Gillies of Port Hood, NS, Bernie (Alexis) of Windsor, ON, Kevin of Manitouwadge, ON, Lynn (Barry) MacPhee of Cornwall, PEI; seven nieces; six nephews; many aunts and uncles; cousins; and friends. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, in St. Peters Church, Port Hood, NS. Father Charles Cameron officiated with burial at the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Palliative Care Services, Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Box 610, Inverness, Nova Scotia, B0E 1N0. Like the beautiful Cape Breton summer sunsets Karen so much enjoyed, we are reminded to live each day to its fullest, not to sweat the small stuff, to enjoy music and a small portion because someday one of those beautiful sunsets will be our own.
