HELEN STAREC It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Starec, on March 29, 2003. Left to mourn her passing are her children, Shirley (Marvin) Pearlman and Reesa (Steven) Horowitz; grandchildren, Alana and David Pearlman and Michael Horowitz. She was predeceased by her husband George Starec. Helen and George worked hard to provide for their family working side by side in their grocery stores on Henderson Highway. Helen was a true survivor having survived not only the Holocaust but also two heart attacks and two strokes. Still she kept on striving to glean the most out of life she possibly could despite her disabilities. Her family will always remember her sense of humour, laughter, singing, delicious dinners and the beautiful outfits she sewed for them.
