ELMORE D. VON HAGEN Elmore D. Von Hagen, late of Regina, SK, formerly of Winnipeg and Brandon, MB passed away on Monday, April 21, 2003 with his family at his side. Predeceased by his wife Vernice (nee McFeetors) parents, Julius and Hazel; brother Garry; and sister Phyllis. Survived by children, Sandra, Cheryl (Wayne), Richard (Cindy), and Shawn (Vicky) grandchildren, Tammy, Michelle, Brent, Eric, Laura and William; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Devin and Dustin; brothers, Wallace, Dale and Lee; sisters, Shirley and June. Elmore spent his childhood years in Minto, Cracknell and Rossburn, MB. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in Brandon in 1941 and served in the First Field Division Artillery unit. He served overseas in the England Home Defense, in Sicily, Italy, Belgium and finally the liberation of Holland. Immediately after the war he attended Brandon University, then was employed with Cargill Grain (National Grain) as an elevator operator in Holbein, SK. He later transferred to Regina as a superintendent and then to Winnipeg, ending his career as construction manager. Elmore assembled an extensive Canadian Stamp collection specializing in Centennial editions. He was a Mason, avid book reader, card player (especially cribbage and bridge) and also enjoyed golf. Elmore enjoyed over a quarter century of summers at the cottage he constructed, located at Clear Lake, MB. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB on Monday, April 28 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Association or to the Palliative Care Unit, care of the Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK S4T 1A5. Arrangements are entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306-789-8850) and Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (204-885-9715).
