HILDA REGIER (nee WALL) 1925 - 2003 With the love and comfort of her family surrounding her, Hilda Regier, aged 78 years, peacefully passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital in the early morning of Saturday, April 26, 2003. She will be forever remembered by her four children, Gerry Regier and wife Joyce, Edith Regier, Linda Burgess and husband Bill, Dorothy Pugh and husband Chris. She will remain a precious memory to her five grandsons Jared Burgess (Karen), Keith Burgess, Gabriel and Eduardo Regier and Devin Pugh. She also leaves behind her sisters, Agnes Wall, Erica Ness (Martin) and brothers, Victor Wall (Mabel), Jacob Wall; sister-in-law Susie Dueck; and brother-in-law George Regier (Sarah). Hilda was predeceased by her loving husband Al Regier nine months ago. Hilda was born in the Crimea, Russia on March 16, 1925. The Wall family immigrated to Canada in 1930 to the town of Gretna, MB where they were welcomed by many kind-hearted relatives. The family settled in Altona where Mom grew up on the familys dairy farm. She completed Normal School in 1944 and taught for many years, completing her career in Winnipeg in 1975. She met her husband Al while teaching in a two-room school house in Arnaud, MB. They were married in 1950 in Altona and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in Winnipeg, last July 16, 2002. Hilda and Al enjoyed their retirement years in Paradise Village, Ste. Anne, MB, and spent every winter as "Snowbirds" in their fifth wheel touring the southwestern USA. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. in The First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. A private urn placement will be held in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Hildas family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, 5th floor for the excellent care and compassion received during this difficult time.
