Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN IRENE MATERUK March 29, 1929 - April 16, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our sister, Evelyn Irene Materuk at the age of 74 years on the evening of April 16 at the Health Sciences Centre. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Jane (Mac) MacDonald of Lethbridge, AB, Helen (Allan) Hickey of Stonewall, MB; niece Linda Thomas and her daughter Andrea Thomas, both of Calgary; along with many other family members; Elsie Stelmack, who has been like a "mother" to Evelyn for the past 20 years. "Grandma" will also be sadly missed by her "adopted family", Neil, Tess, Kimberly and Mark Torman, along with friends Ann and Joyce, with whom she lived, as well as her special friends at Community Ventures. Evelyn was predeceased by her father Kerry, her mother Mary and her baby brother Paul. We wish to give our heartfelt thanks to Katharine Tabbernor of the Department of Family Services along with Natalie Dobrowolski and her very caring staff at Community Ventures who, along with Elsie, Neil and Tess, have given Evelyn what were likely the best years of her life. Thanks also to the Doctors and Nurses at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Finally our sincere appreciation to the MacKenzie Funeral Service of Stonewall who, as a result of their understanding and compassion, make a difficult time much easier to bear. Visitation and prayers were held at MacKenzies on the evening of April 22. Our thanks to Pastor Henry Ozirney, Pastor Glenn Miller, family and friends for their demonstration of love and support. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 at Community Ventures, 324 Logan at Stanley with Major Heather Darrach officiating. At her request Evelyn will be laid to rest with her father, Kerry Holyk at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 N. Main following the service. MacKenzie Funeral Service Stonewall 467-2525
