ROSS ALEXANDER PEACOCK September 21, 1921 - April 26, 2003 Peacefully at home after fighting a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Ross Alexander Peacock passed away on April 26, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Ross was born in Saskatoon, SK on September 21, 1921, the second son of William James and Della Maria Peacock. He attended Wilson Public School, City Park Collegiate and Success Business College. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1940 and most of his service was with the RCAF at the Chemical Warfare Experimental Station in Suffield, AB. Following his discharge in 1946 he was employed with the Canadian National Railway in the General Claims Department in Regina, SK. He moved to Winnipeg in 1962 and retired in 1983 holding the position of Assistant Manager, Claims. Ross loved to golf, always walking the entire 18 holes. He was a past member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club, St. Boniface Golf Club, and was a life member of the Manitoba Seniors Golf Association. When not on the golf course, he liked to spend hours working in his beautiful yard, listening to Big Band Music and Jazz or playing his clarinet and saxophone. The house was always full of music. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Betty of 60 years, his son Bruce Peacock (Glenda) and twin daughters, Donna Cameron and Diana Peacock, his five grandchildren, Elliot Cameron (Rachelle) of Minnedosa, Shannon Cameron of Winnipeg, Kyla Jensen (Bill) of Winnipeg, Adam Cameron (Glenda) of Birch River and Heather Peacock (Curtis) of Winnipeg; his four great-grandchildren, Hayden and Marissa Jensen of Winnipeg and Cole and Brady Cameron of Birch River; his sister-in-law Gerry Peacock of Regina, SK; his nephew Bill Peacock (Dianne) of Langley, BC; and his niece Lee Peacock of Victoria, BC. Ross was predeceased by his parents, William and Della Peacock of Saskatoon, SK; his brother Alan and sister-in-law Freda of Victoria, BC; and his brother Bruce of Regina, SK. Dad will remain in our hearts forever. He was truly a gentleman and we were so proud to have him at the head of our family. He was always eager to know what was happening in the lives of each family member and enjoyed the special stories we each had to tell. He had a mischievous sense of humour and always enjoyed a good chuckle. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital, Riverview Palliative Care Unit and Palliative Home Care, Dr. G. Schroeder, staff and technicians at CancerCare Manitoba as well as Dr. Lee M. Cummings for their care and compassion. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered most in silence, You fought so hard to stay, You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. Cremation has taken place and in accordance with Rosss wishes, a private family service will be held. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements in care of: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
