WILLIAM (WALLY) PETRIE Peacefully, after a brief illness, our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away at the Grace General Hospital on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at the age of 83. William is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Margaret (Gould), his son William G. Petrie and daughter-in-law Arlene; and his two precious grandsons, Graham and Duncan; his sister Catherine of Comox, BC; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary; his sisters, Mary Kenning, Jean Beckett and Marjorie Phillips; his brothers, James, Kenneth and John. William was born in Winnipeg on April 2, 1920. He attended school in East Kildonan. He joined the RCAF and served in Britain and North Africa during the Second World War. Most of his working years were spent at National Cartage and Johnson Terminals, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed working in his garden and following the Toronto Blue Jays on TV. He especially loved playing with his two young grandsons. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family thanks the staff at the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care.
