ALEXANDER "ALEX" WILLIAM KUPPERS Alexander "Alex" William Kuppers passed away in Langley, BC on April 20, 2003 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Adeline (Del) two sons, Kirk (Sonia), Gary (Susan) two daughters, Trudy (Gene), Lori; brother Ivor (Marion) two sisters, Winnifred and Freda; also his six grandchildren, Kelly, Kimberly, Carly, Devon, Robert, Mike, and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Dora Prowse and his brother Maurice. Alex worked 35 years as a brakeman with the C.N.R. and retired in 1982 only to move to Langley, BC three years later. Alex truly had two passions in his life; that of his love for his family and for the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He served as a Treasurer for 15 years for the R.W.R. Assoc. (Manitoba) and then moved on to initiate a R.W.R. chapter in the BC branch where he became their devoted president for the last 16 years. During this time he received a personal letter of commendation from Prince Charles, Colonel in Chief of the Regiment and more recently was awarded the Queens Jubilee certificate and medal for his dedication to his years of service in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, also known as The Little Black Devils. A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of the Valley View Funeral Home in Surrey, BC. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
