EVERETT CHEASLEY ARMSTRONG February 4, 1914 - April 27, 2003 After a long battle with cancer, Everett passed away on April 27, 2003 at the Stonewall Hospital at the age of 89 years. Everett was predeceased by his wife Phyllis in 1971; son Ronald in 1946; brother Edwin; and sister Mildred. He leaves to mourn, his sister Marion (Harold) Hensley of Edmonton; sons, Brent (Peggy), and Gary (Lorna) daughter Brenda (Tom) Dykstra; grandchildren Wendy (Marty) Olson, Ron (Heather) Armstrong, Shelly Armstrong, Darryl (Teri) Armstrong, James (Debbie) Dykstra, and Joey Dykstra (Mandy) and several great-grandchildren. Born in Edmonton, Everett grew up in Winnipeg, MB. Everett loved to travel and in his younger years had played saxophone and clarinet for several big bands. He enjoyed country life and had small farms at Balmoral and for many years at Rockwood. Everett had travelled much of Western Canada and the U.S.A. with his camper-trailer or by motor home. He always enjoyed sports and in his later years spent many hours listening to the Jets, Bombers, Moose and Goldeyes on the radio. Although the body was failing, Everett still managed to maintain a keen interest in current events and what was going on in the world around him. Thank you to the home care girls at Stonewood Place who made it possible for Everett to be "on his own" for nine years. Also thanks to the staff at Rosewood Lodge, Dr. Pinniger, and the staff at Stonewall Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Everetts name to the CNIB, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Cancer Care Manitoba or to a charity of ones choice. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
