PHYLLIS THERESA TCHIR (ESSLINGER) -
Date of Passing: Apr 29, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS THERESA TCHIR (nee ESSLINGER) 1921 - 2003 Peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the beautiful age of 82, Mom left us to move onward, with daughter Heather and son-in-law Ross Zilkey by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Michael (Tchiry) daughter Myrna; and parents, Phillip and Ella (Bishop) Esslinger. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Heather; son-in-law Ross; cousins, Laurie Charles and Lynn Schneider. Also she has left behind so many wonderful, special friends and relatives that it was just too hard to name them all. Even though mom was born in Winnipeg, her heart was always at the cabin in Grand Marais. She got her strength there every summer for over 50 years. During the winters her passion was for 10 pin bowling, the Senior Achievers, playing cards with her 120 club, and going on day trips to Warroad and Manhomen to gamble at the casinos. She also enjoyed the casinos in Winnipeg but the all time favourite was going to Las Vegas. She just loved those slot machines! Mom also enjoyed baking and cooking, which she passed on to me, Thanks Mom. Phyllis touched so many lives and those who needed a hug from a mom; she would be there for them. She was a very special person and will be very deeply missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to Dr. S. Robillard for her excellent every day care of mom and also to Dr. J. Lezack who extended her quality of life through his understanding of cancer. Thank you both. We would like to thank the nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th Floor, Unit 3, for their care, support and kindness in moms final hours. It was moms wish to be cremated and her ashes to be interred at a later date. The celebration of moms life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in moms name to Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation - Oncology Dept, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 3M3, or charity of choice. Not only did I lose my mother I lost my best friend. Ill love you forever Ill like you for always As long as Im living My mommy youll be.
