Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKAETHE KLASSEN (nee BERGEN) December 22, 1925- April 28, 2003 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Kaethe Klassen on Monday, April 28, 2003. Kaethe passed away peacefully, with her loving husband at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kaethe will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 54 years Otto; daughter Irmgard (George) Reimer, and their children, Ken (Heidi), Derek (Jeanne) and their children, Kaila and Neil, Keith (Charlene) son Otto (Marlies) and their children, Karina (Doug) and their children, Jaymi, Isaak and Katie, Deanna (Chris), Marie (Jeff), Michael; son George (Betty) and their children, Nikita, Christopher, Jonathan; daughter Anne-Marie (Frank) and their children, Ian, Daniel, Jeanette, Melanie; daughter Charlotte (Rick) and their children, Kristy, Mitchell, Austin; sisters, Anuschka (Jasch) Wiebe and Maria Epp. Kaethe was predeceased by both parents; and brothers, Gerhard, Victor and Abram. Kaethe was born on December 22, 1925 in Kronsgarten, Ukraine. In 1943 Kaethe, along with her mother and sisters fled wartimes in the Ukraine and immigrated to Germany. In 1947 the family moved to Paraguay and settled in the Colony Volendam. It was here that she met and fell in love with her husband Otto. They were married on April 30, 1949 and had two children Otto Jr. and Irmgard. In October, 1955, Otto, Kaethe and their two young children moved to Winnipeg. After hard work and dedication they established a business O. Klassen Masonary Ltd. They also had three more children, George, Anne-Marie and Charlotte. Kaethe was a wonderful support to her husband in his business and film making career. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who gave the best she had with great love and compassion. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. We will all cherish many wonderful memories of the time spent with her at the Falcon Lake cottage. Kaethe had a strong faith and trust in God. She leaned on His support during her lengthy illness. We are thankful for the peace of mind and soul that God gave her during her last days. Her gifts of good meals, friendship and support will be greatly missed. Mom, You truly were one in a million! Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay. The viewing will be prior to the service. A volunteer choir will be meeting at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join. The interment will follow the reception at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
