VIRGINIA ANN BUTLER (GINNY) It is with sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Ginny, at the age of 50. Ginny was born in Winnipeg and attended St. Ann School, Convent of the Sacred Heart, and the University of Manitoba, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree. It was during her University years that she developed her keen interest in the game of bridge, which ultimately became her passion and her livelihood. She was a competitive player and a director, but her main love was teaching, including the development of instructional manuals and books. "Bridge with Ginny" will be remembered and missed by many in the bridge community. In addition, Ginny was an avid reader, a sports fan, and enjoyed various needlecrafts, creating many gifts that are treasured by friends and family. Ginny showed her compassion for others in many ways over the years, including volunteering her time to assist and counsel women in crisis, and in working with the physically and mentally challenged. Ginny is survived by her parents, Des and Edna; her sisters, Nancy and Cindy; her brothers, Larry (Dorothy) and Jeff (Alix). She will also be missed by her nieces, Karen Serada-Cayer (Rod), Morgan, Madison, Carling and Dayna; her great-nephews, Rhyder Cayer, as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In respect of Ginnys struggle with diabetes and her concern for physically and mentally challenged individuals, donations to either the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or to the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3M 3Z9 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., with Deacon John Fontaine officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
