Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORA GRETEL DYCK It is with deepest sadness that the family of Dora Dyck announces her passing on April 28, 2003 at the Concordia Hospital. She passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside. Dora leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband of 54 years Jacob; daughter Helga (Terry) Smyrl; grandchildren, Christopher and Andrea of Winnipeg; sister Linda in Lutzelbuch, Germany; and many nephews and nieces. Dora was born April 12, 1922, the youngest child of Christian and Emilie Stupfert in Lutzelbuch, Germany. Dora and Jake married in 1948 and Helga was born in 1949. In 1951 the family immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. Doras life centred around her family. Oma was extremely proud of her grandchildren, Andrea and Chris and cherished the time they spent together. Many of Doras favourite times were spent at the family cottage at Brereton Lake. As a lover of the outdoors, she spent countless hours watching and feeding the local wildlife at the cottage, and never failed to give a thorough accounting of all sightings and encounters when arriving back in the city. Dora was an active member of the First Mennonite Church, for many years belonging to and contributing to the activities of the Rosentaler Kraenzchen, making many strong and long-lasting friendships. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Emergency and Observation of Concordia Hospital for the kindness and care given to Dora. A viewing will be held Sunday, May 4, 7:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame, with Rev. Hermann Dueck officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the service in the lower hall of the church. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St. Pallbearers are John Friesen, Roland Patenaude, Don Davidson, Jake Froese, Jake Klassen and Peter Harms.
