Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH LOUIS HERVE LAGIMODIERE December 24, 1928 - April 29, 2003 It is with great sorrow, that after a courageous battle with cancer, our family must announce the passing of our father, Louis Lagimodiere, Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at St. Anthonys Hospital, The Pas, aged 74 years. The eldest of 12 children Dad was born in Deerhorn, MB in 1928. As a young child the effects of the depression brought his family to northern Manitoba where they hoped to seek a better life. Northern Manitoba is where Dad ultimately spent most of his life. In 1951 Dad met and married our mother, Micki Roche. Together they raised seven children. Dad spent 37 proud years working for Western Grocers in The Pas, Flin Flon, and Dauphin. Over the years he held various positions at Western Grocers including warehouse labourer, account sales representative, merchandiser, and branch manager. In 1995 after 23 years in Dauphin and shortly after the passing of our mother, he retired and fulfilled his dream of moving back to "The North". Living at Rocky Lake, Dad was able to enjoy his favourite pastimes, which included hunting, fishing, bird watching, and working on his cabin. He had a passion for gardening and spent many hours tending to his vegetable garden and his many flowers. An avid reader and historian, Dad loved to talk politics with anyone who would listen. Dad had an excellent sense of humour and was a great storyteller. In particular he loved to relive his many hunting expeditions with his buddies. He also possessed the unique ability to tag people with nicknames that would stick for life. Dads grandchildren were his greatest source of pride and joy. He always made sure to have a few dollars or a treat for the kids when he would see them. He loved to brag about how smart or cute each one was. The little ones could never escape without a big hug and a kiss. Our dad was a proud, hardworking, unique man, with an extraordinary strength of character. Through the many trying times in our lives it has been his unwavering strength that has held our family together. He was a good man who will be deeply missed. Louis leaves to cherish his memories son Blaine, wife Celeste (Chad, Graham, Bryce) son Robert, wife Donna (Lisa, Tara) daughter Lea Corman, husband Dean (Denae, Jonathan) daughter Colette Bouchard, husband Robert (Luc, Madlyn) granddaughter Kimberly Thorne, husband Russell (Amara, Aaron, Lily) and grandson Matthew Lagimodiere; along with many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
