EARL SPRINGMAN (nee KRAMER) 1935-2003 Peacefully, with her family at her side, Pearl Springman passed away at the Sharon Home North in Winnipeg on Wednesday, April 16, 2003. She leaves to mourn her husband Tom of 48 years, her three children, Nata (Avery), Maurie (Sheila) and Mal (Lisa) her seven grandchildren, Adam, Derek, David, Maegan, Trevor, Rory and Deborah; her brother Ken (Geita) Kramer, her sister Edith (Frank) Zipursky and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Jessie and Nathan Kramer. Pearl was born in Winnipeg, April 25, 1935. She attended Prince Edward Elementary School and Lord Wolseley School. During these years she took classical music lessons and this love of music was her inspiration to become a piano teacher. One of her joys was her Heinzmann grand piano upon which she taught her children. In her early 40s Pearl returned to school and graduated as a legal secretary, a position she held for ten years. When her grandchildren were born she joined Discovery Toys. She became a very successful consultant and won numerous awards and accolades for achievements in bringing quality educational books and toys to children. Her achievements included becoming a member of the Presidents Club and the Circle of Distinction. When her children were small Pearl was active as a volunteer in many organizations including the school PTA and politics at both a provincial and federal level. In the community she served in Jewish organizations such as Hadassah-Wizo, where she held a Life Membership. Responsibility was one of her strengths and she embraced new challenges, including the birth of Spring Taxi in 1989 - a family company. As a member of the Rosh Pina Synagogue, Pearl attended services regularly in the years leading up to her illness. She also enjoyed many years of Israeli dancing and Hebrew lessons. She took great pride in celebrating her children and grandchildrens milestones, such as weddings and Bar and Bat Mitzvot. Pearls love of family was limitless. She made it her personal responsibility to unite all family members for every holiday and special occasion. The large dining room table always had room for one more. Her dedication to family included her personal pride in the successes of all her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her strong family values earned her the respect and admiration of family, friends and acquaintances. Special thanks to the staff at the Sharon Home North and all who were instrumental in providing care during her stay there. A special thank you to her companion Mirana Haub, who gave Pearl many happy hours. Services were held at Congregation Eytz Chayim on April 20. Officiating were Rabbi Henry Balsar and Cantor Gerry Daien. Eulogies were delivered by her grandson David, her son-in-law Avery and her son Mal. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Adam and David and her nephews, Barry, Sheldon, Ian and Mark. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of ones choice.
