CLINTON JOLLIFFE WHEELER Peacefully, on April 30, 2003, Clint spent his final days in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, friends and pets. Throughout his illness he remained the patient, good-humoured husband/father/friend we all had known. Born in 1950, in Winnipeg, Clint spent much of his childhood in Montreal and St. John. His fondest memories were of summers spent with his maternal grandparents - Arthur and Jenny Jolliffe - in Plumas, MB. Following high school at Silver Heights Collegiate in Winnipeg, Clint pursued the study of Social Anthropology - first at the University of Winnipeg, then at McMaster University and, finally, at Pembroke College, Oxford University. Over the years, Clint lectured at the University of Winnipeg, researched aboriginal land claims and helped care for his children. Most recently, he had worked for Brinks Canada. Clint was an avid outdoorsman who served as president of Assiniboia Wildlife Association for several years. He shared his love of the outdoors with his children through the Association-related youth programs. Together he and his son progressed through Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts - one as member, the other as leader. The family enjoyed every summer together at Len and Agnes Johnsons cottage at Red Rock Lake and visits made to the Wheeler cabin at Echo Bay. Clint is survived by wife Linda Johnson; children, Althea and Tory (Arthur) parents, Ray and Helen Wheeler; mother-in-law Agnes Johnson; siblings, Janis (George Mason), Karen (Jeff Gresham), Jim Wheeler (Heather) and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the MRHA Homecare and Palliative Care teams from whom we received support and guidance. Thank-you Rosalie, Stannie and Sharon for your care. A service celebrating Clints life will take place on Tuesday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Ave. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
