LAURA MARGARET HEWITT (nee ADAMS) Peacefully on May 3, 2003 at her "last home" Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, Laura passed away. She leaves to celebrate her life her brothers, Edwin, Lawrence (Irene) sister Mildred Jones (Russ) children, Gordon, Barbara Newell (Don) and James; as well as nine grandchildren, Charlene (Stu), Scott (Tannis), Ryan, David, Kris, Michael, Amber, Kendra and Amanda; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Robert; sons, Kenneth (Sandi) and Lawrence (Bertha) and sister Gladys. Laura was born in Winnipeg September 11, 1920. She grew up in Riverview and graduated from Kelvin High School. As a lifelong resident of Winnipeg she worked in the food service industry operating and managing the Kildonan Park Golf Course canteen for over 20 years. Laura was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and friend. She was an avid cribbage player who would take on all challengers at Donwood. She was a kind and caring person whose sharp wit and great sense of humour will be dearly remembered by all that new her. The family wishes to thank the staff at Donwood Manor for their care and compassion for Laura, during her residency, especially the 2 south family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donwood Manor Therapeutic Recreation Department or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, May 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Ave. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
