KENNETH MARTIN BARKMAN With sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth Martin Barkman on May 5, 2003 at St. Pauls Hospital in Saskatoon, SK after a lengthy and courageous battle against cancer. Ken took his last breath while embracing his wife Bonnie, daughter Loralee and son Jon. He will also be dearly missed by his father David; siblings Murray (Marg), Sid (Sylvia), Elaine (Tom Beckett), Kelvin (Lucy), Rick (AJ) and Miranda (Brad Thiessen) as well as Bonnies mother Doreen Hall and family, Carol (Rob Johnston), Jan (Delory Nestibo), Merla Myers, Greg (Renae), Brad (Tanis), and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his father-in-law Kenneth Ross Hall and his mother Annie Barkman. Born December 11, 1951 to David and Annie Barkman in Steinbach, MB, Ken grew up in the Giroux area where he also received his early education. He later attended Central Pentecostal College and also studied at the University of Manitoba. In 1973 Ken was married to Bonnie Hall and they would have celebrated 30 years of marriage in November of this year. Throughout his life Ken showed an interest in pursuing a variety of careers. But with building construction as his career of choice, he established his business of home building in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and most recently in Fort McMurray, AB. The memory of Kens faith, friendship, sense of humour, generous spirit and wisdom for life will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved him. Funeral services will be held at Springs Church, 179 Chapel Drive, Steinbach, MB at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 10. Pastor Eldon Schultz of Saskatoon will be officiating. Interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach. Viewing will take place at Loewen Funeral Chapel on May 9 at 7:00 p.m. Donations in Kens honor may be made to a cause near to his heart: Mountain Top Ministries, 2165 East Main St., Danville, Indiana 46112 A Memorial Service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home in Saskatoon on Tuesday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. LOEWEN Funeral Chapel 5 Chrysler Gate-Steinbach-326-1351
