GERRY SHIPPER Peacefully, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, Gerry, at the age of 62, passed away on May 8, 2003. Gerry was born on December 8, 1940 in Winnipeg, an only child to Bert and Doris. Gerry was predeceased by Bert in 1997. Gerry spent his childhood in Morris Place where he was active in community organized sports. During these early years Gerry established many lifelong friends who share in his familys grief over his death. Gerry worked for the City of Winnipeg in a career that spanned 35 years ending in 1995 with his retirement. Throughout his working years he continued his involvement with his friends through curling, golfing at Elmhurst, or being the first to volunteer to help organize events for everyones enjoyment. Gerry is survived by his mother Doris; first born child Robyn; son-in-law Zsolt; second child Scott; their mother Arlene; and present partner Rowan. Gerry lived for his family and was forever organizing outings, both for his immediate and extended family. Ski trips with his family, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law or summer days at Beaver Creek. Gerrys love for animals ensured they were never excluded. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
