LOUIS (BUD) BURWELL Peacefully, on Wednesday May 7, 2003, at the age of 72 years, Bud passed away at East Gate Lodge, in Beausejour. Bud will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters; Gail (Kevin) Nally and Linda (Ed) Huisman; grandchildren, David (Corina) Zechel, Kathy and Danny Zechel, and Melanie and Dawn Huisman; great-grandchildren Maks and Anni Zechel; and by his close friend Robin Henschell. Bud was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Kay, in 1993, and his son Bruce in 1985. Bud was born in Winnipeg on November 15, 1930. He lived and worked in Winnipeg most of his life until heading to Vancouver for six years, where Kay worked alongside him to run a successful sign shop. In 1974 they returned to Manitoba to retire at their cottage at Otter Falls in the Whiteshell. Bud then worked alongside Kay in her Real Estate business. Bud lived at his cottage up until the onset of his illness two years ago. Bud will be remembered by his family and friends for his quiet manner, his love of the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and his fondness for all of his dogs, whom he called "Cindy". The family wishes to thank the staff at East Gate Lodge for their exceptional care. According to Dads wishes, a private family service will be held. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. You are free, now Dad. Free to fly higher than the eagles that soar over Otter Falls, to walk your dog down quiet roads, and to go fishing on God-given Whiteshell mornings.
