SARAH (SADIE) J. CROSS 1902 - 2003 On Friday, May 9, 2003, at West Park Manor, Sadie passed away peacefully with her daughter Betty and grandson Duane at her side. For the past few years Sadie has had a long struggle with accepting her incapability of not being what she used to be. May she now rest in peace. Sadie was born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 11, 1902, and came to Canada at the age of nine with her parents and siblings in 1911. Sadie married Albert (Bert) Cross on August 1, 1928, in Thunder Bay, ON and they moved to Winnipeg in 1932. They had a happy life together until Bert passed away in 1963. She continued to enjoy her life: gardening, travelling with her wonderful friends and bowling with the Shrine Ladies. She was a Life Member of the Daughters of the Nile, Shrine Temple No. 116 and a member of Westworth United Church. Sadie was preceded by her husband, Albert William Cross; her two brothers, William and Christopher Boyce; and three sisters, Marjorie Welsh, Marion Oldfield and Aileen Corcoran, all of Thunder Bay, ON. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Skinner of Winnipeg and Norma Zimmerman of Regina; also her eight grandchildren, Bill (Mary Ann) Galston of Portage la Prairie, David (Petra) Galston of Hamilton, ON and Duane (Rose) Galston of Winnipeg, Lynda Surerus of Calgary, AB, Dawn Cross Baron (Doug) of Winnipeg, Heather Patryluk (Terry) of Regina, SK, Sandra Zimmerman (Rolly) of Regina and Robert Zimmerman (Dana) of Calgary and nine great-grandchildren, Joy Eidse (Derek) of Norway House, MB, Robert, James, Miriam and Kevin Galston of Portage la Prairie, Natasha and Matthew Surerus of Calgary and Bryce and Troy Patryluk of Regina. Her sister Pat Giguere of Beeton, ON also survives her. Before moving to West Park Manor she shared many happy years at the Wellington on Grant Avenue. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Rita Ross for such wonderful and compassionate care she gave to Mother for the past three years. Also to the great staff at West Park Manor. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westworth United Church. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Westworth United Church, Building Fund, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3N 0H9 or West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 1X2. DEATH IS NOT THE END; IT IS A NEW BEGINNING; IT IS NOT THE FALL OF NIGHT; IT IS ANOTHER DAWN. PEACE TO HER SOUL Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
