She will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, Johann, her mother Amalie Rupp, sister Lydia Dyck, and brother Hardy Rupp. She was predeceased by her father Wilhelm Weber in 1936 and by her brother Willi in 1938. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of her four children and her eight grandchildren; daughter Margaret; son-in-law Ken and grandchildren Matt, Amber and Candice; son Bill, daughter-in-law Pearl and granddaughters, Jane and Anna; daughter Ingrid, son-in-law Richard and granddaughter Nadia; daughter Monika, son-in-law Jeff and granddaughters, Andrea and Emily. Ella was born on April 21, 1929, in Dornfeld, Poland. After many uprootings due to the early death of her father and because of the continual movement of the front during the Second World War, Ella ended up in a refugee camp with her family in Backnang, Germany in 1947. There she met her future husband, Johann. Ella was the first of her family to emigrate to Canada, arriving alone in 1949 at the age of 19. After serving as a maid for a year to fulfil her immigration conditions, she moved to Winnipeg to be reunited with her family and fiance. She married Johann on June 10, 1950. Despite the hardships of her early life, Ella lived her life with optimism, joy, and delight in her family, cottage, travelling, and gardening. If friends desire, donations may be made in Ellas memory to the Oncology Ward of the Victoria General Hospital, Hospice & Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3, or the Memorial Fund of First Mennonite Church.
