DR. ROBERT MARK RUTHERFORD DC Phc Bob was an athlete, a farmer, a sportsman, an outdoorsman, a businessman, philanthropist and a very kind, thoughtful, gentle man who gave of himself to others in his actions and by example, and he was my husband of sixty-three years, our father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and a very special friend to many. Dad passed away at Pinawa, MB on Friday, May 9, 2003 near his beloved farm at Lac du Bonnet, MB. Dad is survived by his wife Bette; children, June (Nat), Bob (Gloria), Mauri (Penny), Donna (Al), John (Michelle) and Ted; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Ed; sisters, Clara Powell and Doris Roberts and many extended family members. Prior to his retirement in 1975, Dad practiced for 40 years as a chiropractic physician. He acted as President of his profession and received numerous honours for services rendered to his profession as a director of the Provincial and National Boards and the Canadian Memorial College at York University. Dad served as a member of numerous organizations including Northern Light Masonic Lodge, member of the Directors Staff Khartum Temple and the Royal Order of Jesters. Dad was a member of St. Marks Anglican Church and latterly, Lac du Bonnet Anglican Church during his retirement years. We are all very proud to have had the opportunity to have and know Dad and will value his character, generosity, and care for others as one of his greatest legacies. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the medical and nursing staff at Pinawa Hospital for their kindness and compassion extended to Bob and his family. A funeral service will be held at the Lac du Bonnet Legion Hall, Lac du Bonnet, MB on Tuesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rob Murray officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobs grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bobs memory may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, Lac du Bonnet, MB ROE 1AO or to a charity of ones choice.
