BORIS SEREDYCZ February 28, 1944 - May 8, 2003 It is with great sadness that the family of Boris Seredycz announces his passing on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 59. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Donna, his children, Daniel, Larissa, and Michael and friend Kimberly. Boris also leaves to mourn his mother Mary, sister Irene (Marcel), mother in-law Nellie Prociuk, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunt and uncle Kostecki in Germany, and cousins in the U.S. He was predeceased by his father, George Seredycz in 1982. Boris was born in Turka, Ukraine and arrived in Canada in 1948 and relocated to Winnipeg in 1950. He was raised and educated in Winnipegs North End and attended St. Johns and Elmwood High School. After completing high school, Boris completed courses in business administration at University of North Dakota. Boris worked at Avco financial services and later at Astra Credit Union. He was owner and manager of the Park West Hotel for 23 years. He resumed a career in financial planning with the Investors Group of Canada until his illness. While supporting his family, Boris was still actively involved with numerous choirs throughout the city and volunteered his time with many organizations. He proudly sang with the Millennium and Dumka Choir while singing at both St. Andrews and St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Churches. Boris served on the Board of Directors for St. Nicholas Mutual and was on the Executive Board of the Knights of Columbus St. Basil Council #11021. Boris always enjoyed travelling with his family to hotspots like Mexico and cities in the U.S. but he had a fondness for the mountains. He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, his wit, his charm, his beautiful voice, and of course his smile and vigor for life that would light up a room. Boris will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The Seredycz family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Wong, Dr. Alexander Vacjner and all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital. Prayers will be sung on Monday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, on 202 Harcourt. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Basils Church, with Rev. Isidore, OSBM officiating. The interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Boris memory to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 MacDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. You will always be in our hearts.
