DOROTHY LOUISE MILLER It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Louise Miller, our beloved Wife, Mother and Nana on May 9, 2003 at Pine Falls Health Complex. Over the past six months, Dorothy faced her illness with both dignity and optimism. Her memory will be forever cherished by George, her husband and best friend of 55 years; her daughters and son-in-laws, Bonnie and Spencer, Laurie and Gerald; and her beloved grandchildren, Meghan, Christopher, Luke and Kelly. Also surviving Dorothy are her brother Douglas (Yvette) and sister Ethel (Scotty) as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Duke and Dorothy Thompson, her brother Donald and grandson Cameron. Dorothy was born September 8, 1927. She lived all her life in Winnipeg and spent summers at her beautiful Lester Beach. In 1998, Dorothy and George made the family cottage their permanent home. Her family was her life. She and George created a home filled with love and laughter. "Moms" love was unconditional and endless. Dorothy adored her grandchildren and was fascinated by each for their unique personalities. "Nana" loved to celebrate all of their accomplishments and joys. She was also their listening ear, always encouraging. Dorothy valued the simple things in life, pride in her home, her flower garden and watching the birds while enjoying her morning coffee. She was a marvellous cook and was happiest in her kitchen preparing meals for family and friends. Some of her most special times were spent travelling with George in their "getaway" van throughout Canada and the United States. The family wishes to thank her family physician, Dr. A. Schroeder, the OBGYN Oncology team at CancerCare and the fifth floor Womens Centre for their untiring efforts and care. Special thanks to Dr. Van Royen and the nursing staff at Pine Falls Health Complex for the sincere compassion given to Dorothy and her family over these past ten days. Thank you also to our many friends and neighbours for their loving support and generosity throughout Dorothys illness. A celebration of Dorothys life will be held at Garry Memorial, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations may be made in Dorothys memory to CancerCare Manitoba. A private family interment will take place. She loved life, laughter, her friends and especially her family.
