He was held in the arms of his loving wife Helen, surrounded by the love of his family. Bill was born on February 2, 1934 in Portage la Prairie, MB to parents John and Martha. He married Helen in August 1954 and in 1955 he joined the Canadian Airborne Regiment and was a paratrooper with over 100 jumps. After retiring from the military in which he earned the distinction of C.D. he began working for the Winnipeg Transit System. His badge number was 111. During his career with Transit, he became involved with the disabled community. He saw a need for handicap accessible housing and subsequently founded and oversaw the construction of Tranquility Place Housing Co-op and the Bill Arnott Housing Co-op. This involvement earned him the Distinct Honour of the Queens Jubilee, which was granted earlier this year. Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen and four children, Cheryl (Kim) Weaver, Shannon, Bill (Delia) and Russ Arnott; seven grandchildren, Nikki and Rob Pickering, Mike, Billy, Kendall, Jessica and Ben Arnott; one great-granddaughter Kaitlyn. Bill is also survived by brothers, John, David and Don Arnott. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley, brother Bob and his parents and his daughter-in-law Barb. We would like to thank Dr. Miller for his wonderful care these many years. We would also like to thank the nursing staff of H5 and D4 at the Health Sciences Centre for their caring and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Lamba at the Health Sciences Centre for his wisdom, expertise and the excellent care he provided to our father. Dad your passing is a huge loss and leaves such a void but you are so loved and will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place and at Bills request no service will be held.

Oh Uncle Bill, or as our family we always called you Uncle Jimmy. It was with great saddness that at the time I only learned of your passing several days passed your funeral. I will always think of you and recall your laughter and joke making. Yes to this day you have always been my favorite uncle (don't tell Uncle Ab please) . I so enjoyed how close our families had been while growing up. It is sad that these days cousins seldom even know each other. Think of you a lot, miss you and see you again someday. - Posted by: Marni Arnott (neice) on: Sep 07, 2015
