Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD WELLINGTON BELFRY November 18, 1923 - May 12, 2003 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Harry passed away early Monday morning, May 12, 2003 in the Grace Hospital at the age of 79. His memory will forever warm the hearts of his loving wife Ethel; daughter Kim (Stan Davey) son John (Michelle), grandchildren, Brett and Carley; sister Ada Gray, as well as many treasured friends and extended family members. Harry was born in Shelbrook, SK on November 18, 1923 and was raised in Prince Albert with his family. In 1941 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served until October 1945. After attending United College, he began his career with the Sun Life Insurance company. Harry also worked for Swifts and Security Mutual Insurance in his earlier years and developed his own company "HarBel" selling insurance and autopac until retirement. He enjoyed his work given the many wonderful customers and friends he came to know. Harry and Ethel were married on February 14, 1948, celebrating their 55th anniversary this year. Together, with their children John and Kim, they enjoyed many wonderful times living in Charleswood and spending summer vacations at Twin Lakes Beach. Harry was always an active sportsman, enjoying hockey, baseball, curling and his passion, golf. He enjoyed many years of golf with his friends at Elmhurst and Pine Ridge Golf Courses. This year, Harry was honoured with the 50 years service medal from the Masons. Retirement years brought much pleasure to Harry - he and Ethel enjoyed many trips together. His special joy was found in the newest members of his family, his beloved grandchildren, Brett and Carley. "Papa" loved to hear about Bretts fishing and sports highlights and also loved Carleys singing and dancing. They were truly the lights of his life. Harry was unfailingly supportive of all his family and friends throughout his life. "If we could sit across the porch from God, we would thank him for lending us our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend." A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pat Harris, the Grace Hospital CancerCare/Palliative Care staff and volunteers and our WRHA Palliative Nurse, all of whom provided tremendous care and compassion to Harry and the family. A celebration of Harrys life will be held Thursday, May 15, 2:00 p.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harrys memory to "Grace Hospice", c/o the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
