FRANK GRANDE On May 13, 2003 at Riverview Health Centre, after a courageous struggle with cancer, Frank Grande went to meet his Saviour. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) of 54 years in 1997; parents, Savario and Maria Grande; and brother Joe. He leaves to mourn, his son Tony (Bonnie) daughters, Linda (Ron) Craven and Chris (Don) Friesen; as well as five grandchildren, Glen Craven (Michelle), Jody Whapham (Ken), Colin Friesen, Maeghan and Melissa Grande; and three great-grandchildren, Jenna and Jeremy Craven and Portia Grande. He is also survived by sisters, Lena Lavitt, Rose Weselake, and Jeanette Johannesson; brothers, Tom (Karen) and Sam; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend Ora Magill. Frank was born on March 1, 1924 in Winnipeg and married Betty in 1943 while on leave from the Air Force during the Second World War. He was a member of the Fort Rouge Legion, serving for a time as Entertainment Chairman. He was employed by Winnipeg School Division No. 1 for many years, his last position being Head Caretaker at Grosvenor School. In his retirement years, he loved being involved with his son, helping out in his business. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Frank and Betty enjoyed traveling and spent many happy winters in Mesa, Arizona and summers at the cottage in Sandy Hook. Frank was an avid golfer, but his happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren will always treasure many wonderful memories of the countless hours he spent with them. Frank had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to tell stories and jokes to entertain others and make them laugh. Even when he was very ill you could count on him for a joke or a funny remark. He also knew with assurity that his faith and trust was in the Lord Jesus Christ. The family would like to thank Franks honourary godchildren, Chester and Flo Tyl for their love and support. They would also like to thank the Palliative Care staff on 3E at Riverview Health Centre, especially Dr. Mulder, Marlene Lynch and Brian Robbins. A funeral service to celebrate Franks life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, May 16 at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Archie Dyck will be officiating.
