JOHN EDGAR KERNAGHAN It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Edgar Kernaghan on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the age of 85 years. John was born in Fort William, Thunder Bay District, ON on May 9, 1918. He spent his school years on the farm in Cartwright, MB before moving to Winnipeg, where he was employed at Macleods Merchandise where he gained many friends and acquired his nickname "Dusty." Over the years, he was also employed at Dominion Motors Ltd. and in later years spent many hours driving for Moores Taxi. John (Dusty) had many friends in Winnipeg and could often be seen socializing with his buddies at McDonalds and enjoying coffee. John occasionally returned to his roots at Cartwright and visited the friends he grew up with. John was still in fairly good health and still enjoyed driving his car every day. His family and friends will sadly miss him. John was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Margaret; wife Stella in 1990 and by his two brothers, Raymond in 1995 and Milton in July 2000. John is survived by his brothers, Robert (Nadia), Gordon (Margaret), Leonard (Deanna) and Edward. Two sisters, Evelyn Kantor (John), and Edith Trembath also survive him. Many thanks to Nan, Gail, and their associates for their years of care and assurances given to John over many years at the Agr Health Centre. Funeral Service was held on Friday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to a charity of their choice. Arrangements in care of: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Cemetery and Crematorium 885-9715
