MARY LEWKO (nee LEONTOWICH) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary (known as Ma to family and friends) at the Victoria Hospital just two days short of turning 90 years old. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Lydia, Zenon (Carol), Connie Haddow (David), Dennis (Heather), Nadeen Skelton (Jack), Lonnie, and Sonia Parker. Also her much loved grandchildren, Micheal and Roger (Tracey), Dean and Kyle, Darren and Ryan Skelton, and Candace Parker. She will be sadly missed by her sister Ann Brunner; and her brothers, Fred (Sophie) and Alex (Adella) Leontowich, all from Ituna, SK. Mary was predeceased by her husband Mickael in 1958; and by two sisters and two brothers. Mary was born in Ituna, SK, and attended Beaverside School. She had many fond memories of picnics and dances there. In 1937 she married Mike and in 1948 they moved to the present Lewko farm in Sanford. Being widowed early in life she worked hard to provide for her family. Mom enjoyed her retirement years revealing her many talents in gardening, ceramics, sewing, and hosting family gatherings especially at Christmas. In recent years she took great pleasure in visiting and playing cards with fellow residents of the Mandan Manor in Sanford. We will celebrate her life at a memorial service on Saturday, May 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, with Rev. Peter Mitchell officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be at Chapel Lawn on Friday, May 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private family burial service will be held on Saturday morning. The pallbearers will be her seven grandchildren. The family appreciates and thanks her kind, supportive Home Care Workers. Also our thanks to the ambulance attendants and all the staff of the Victoria Hospital, especially the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department. Donations may be made in Marys memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or Mandan Manor Inc., Box 287, Sanford, MB R0G 2J0. The latter to be earmarked for Mandan Manor Grounds Beautification. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
