Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUERGEN VOGT Peacefully, on Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Juergen Vogt, beloved husband of Hannalore, proud father of Andy, Roland (Kathy) and David (Linda) and cherished Opa to Krista passed away with his family at his side. He is also survived by his brother Lothar (Tae) and his faithful dog Dexter. Juergen, known to many as George, was born August 3, 1938 in Amsberg, Germany to the late Arthur and Gretel Vogt. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Rainer and Gunther. Juergen and Laura and their young family immigrated to Canada in 1967. A carpenter by trade he tackled many new jobs in Canada. One job taking him to Churchill for a number of years. In 1982 he began to work with the Government of Manitoba in the Maintenance Department at the Selkirk Mental Health Center. He loved this work and truly loved his close co-workers, whom he missed when he could no longer work due to illness. He officially retired March 21, 2003 after 21 years of service. At work everyone knew George. He was a proud and strong man who loved life and his family. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15 (today) at 11:00 a.m. in the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave., Selkirk (beside Safeway), with Pastor Stan Richards. A viewing will be held one-half hour prior to services. Cremation will follow. A private family interment of ashes will be held at a later date. The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful caregivers with Homecare, the nursing staff and the doctors at the Selkirk General Hospital who cared for Juergen. Donations in memory of Juergen can be made to the Selkirk Palliative Care Unit, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
