TEODOR (TED) JUPIN After a lengthy illness with heart disease, our beloved husband, father and grandfather Ted, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Victoria General Hospital. Dad will be deeply missed by his devoted family, wife Anne of 48 years; son Dan and wife Heather; daughter Iris and husband Bill; daughter Patty and husband Bruce; and son John; grandchildren, Tannis, Stephen, Sean, Erin, Kyla, and Jonathan. He is also survived by sister-in-law Olga and husband Sidney Maleski and brother-in-law Bill Paley, as well as numerous relatives in the Ukraine. He was predeceased by a son Joseph in infancy; his parents, John and Mary; and parents-in-law, Stefan and Effie Paley. Ted was born in 1924 in Werbiany, Ukraine. In 1941, he became a prisoner of war and worked in a factory in Stuttgart, Germany. He was released in 1945 and immigrated to Canada. Upon reaching Halifax, he boarded a train and was transported to northern Ontario to work in a lumber camp. After a few months, Ted went to Toronto to find work. He began working in a shoe factory and studied electronics by correspondence that was offered from New York. Dad and Mom were married in 1954. Dad worked for Delta Electric on St. Marys Road until 1966 when he established T. Jupin Electronics in their home. While Ted repaired a wide variety of electronic equipment, including radios and televisions, Anne kept busy answering the phones and looking after their four children. In the 1970s, T. Jupin Electronics became Unicraft T.V. They expanded the business to a large shop, built behind the house, where Ted sold and repaired televisions. Dad appreciated the simple things in life. Family gatherings and good food were the basic ingredients for his happiness. We will forever cherish the memories of many camping vacations to eastern and western Canada and parts of the United States, as well as many trips to the country to visit relatives and friends. Prayers will be said Friday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 in St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sarto, MB. Both services will be officiated by Fr. John Mostivsky and assisted by Deacon M. Jacyna. Interment will follow at the St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Sarto. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Childrens Wish Foundation, The Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2, would be greatly appreciated. Gods Promise God didnt promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow or sun without rain. But God did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and a light for the way. And for all who believe in His kingdom above, He answers their faith with everlasting love. God Bless you Dad and Dido VICHNAYA PAMYAT Arrangements in care of Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Both Theodore and Anne gave me a lot of inspiration to this day when I got to know them while visiting their daughter Patty in 1987. Theodore and I talked about his time as a war prisoner in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany and at the end of my stay he drove me to a truckstop in Winnipeg, from where I continued my trip to the national parks and Vancouver. Before I left the car, he gave me some good advice on how to travel safe through Canada. Anne and I had a great time while going out for lunch in August 1987. She told me all about her family and I thank both of them for their great hospitality. Klaus Hage, Germany - Posted by: Klaus Hage (friend from Germany) on: Dec 22, 2020
