MAMIE GEHRING (WILSON) Surrounded by the love of family, friends and colleagues, Mamie Gehring passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Carman Memorial Hospital. Mamie is survived by her husband Martin, his children, Carol, Bernard and Gail and their families; by her three children, Kathleen Leathers, Lyall Wilson and Wendy Wilson and their partners, Winston Leathers, Janet Wilson and Leone Banks; and by three grandchildren, Tess, Lyn and Paul Wilson. As the eldest of eight children Mamie became mother and confidant to her younger brothers, true friend to their wives and grandmother to their children. She is survived by her brothers, Hank (Eleanor), Harvey, Bill (Ruth), and Dick (Lynn) Rempel; and sisters, Margaret Stannard and Dorothy Falk. Predeceased by her first husband, Garth Wilson in 1986 she is survived by sisters-in-law, Alva Mutch, Arlene Reinsch, Helen Springer and brother-in-law Keith Wilson. Mamie was a generous and active member of the Sperling community for almost 50 years. She had many accomplishments in life. She was a fine nurse. She rose through the steps of Eastern Star to worthy matron and was a keen curler and golfer. Mamie touched many peoples lives with her warmth and love and humour and generosity. She was a wonderful and caring mother, wife, sister and friend. She will be sorely missed. The family wishes to sincerely thank Mamies many friends, her nursing colleagues and the hospital nursing staff that helped her through her last days with such concern and tender care. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Carman Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Box 610, Carman, MB ROG OJO. Doyles Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
