BABY SAMUEL JAY LUMSDEN KALETSCH May 9, 2003 Born on Friday, May 9, 2003 at 2:39 p.m. at St. Boniface General Hospital to Janice Lumsden and Ralf Kaletsch, Sam passed away shortly thereafter peacefully in his Mothers arms. Left to mourn his passing are his parents, Janice and Ralf; grandparents, John and Bev Lumsden and Margrit Kaletsch; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sam was predeceased by his grandfather Dr. Reinhold Kaletsch on April 6, 1996. In our lives for only six precious months Sammy quickly became the center of our universe. Tenderly referred to by his Dad as "The Twerp" he was the topic of most of our conversations. Sammy was well known among all of our family, friends and at Moms work and was talked about daily. Enthusiastically awaited for by everyone he will especially be missed by his Mom and Dad and Grandparents. Sammy had inherited his Dads love for soccer. He kept a diligent schedule and had Mom up early every morning around 2:00 a.m. for a couple of hours of practice. Blessed with his Dads long legs he surely would have made his Dad proud on the soccer field. Sam, We thought about you constantly and dreamed of you and your life. We had many hopes and aspirations and then you were taken from us before your life truly began. So pure and innocent - no suffering did you know, though our hearts are broken we knew you had to go. You did not make your journey alone - a part of us went with you. Just as a part of you stays with us as the purest love we ever knew. We can feel your pure and perfect spirit looking after us in our time of pain, and it brings us hope and comfort until that precious day when we are together again. We love you Sam. Mom and Dad. We are grateful for the kindness and care given to us by Dr. Helewa, Dr. McCarthy, the staff on 3B, L & D and Pastoral Care at SBGH. We would like to thank our family and friends for their outpouring of love and support. Special thanks to Nana and Papa Lumsden, and to Brenda and Lori for all that you have done for us. We are overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness, we love you. Also special thanks to Uncle Paul, Aunt Jan and family for taking care of Jake. Ralfie .....thanks for being the person you are, youre amazing. There are no words to express how much I love you. Jan. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service celebrating Sams life will be held on Wednesday, May 21. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sams name to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation for Neonatology or Perinatal Bereavement, 409 Tache Ave. Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
